We are pleased to be able to be able to introduce Nurse Rona and her excellent Childhood Matters radio show to Wirral Mums visitors.

Each week nurse Rona and her guests discuss topics that are of importance to all parents such as Preventing Neglect and Child Abuse and provide tips and strategies that we all can benefit from.

Childhood Matters is produced by Interactive Parenting Media and broadcasts live every Sunday morning across San Francisco, Monterey & Santa Cruz.

We at Wirral Mums have been long time admirers of Nurse Rona and her show and thanks to the Childhood Matters team we are able to offer mums across Wirral access to the radio programme via our website.

Rona Renner, Executive Director of Interactive Parenting Media and Childhood Matters Host

Rona Renner, RN, is an accomplished parent educator and talk show facilitator. In addition to her role as host of Childhood Matters, she has been a guest expert on radio and has appeared on national television segments on CNN and 20/20 and is a monthly guest on ABC 7's The View From The Bay. Rona is the parent of four children, ages 20 to 38, grandparent of two, and has been a registered nurse for over 40 years with a wide range of experience in health care, administration, and patient education in New York, California, Zaire, and India.

Dental disease is one of the leading causes of school absenteeism for children. Most children already have cavities by three years of age. Join Nurse Rona and guests as they discuss ways to prevent dental disease and how to tackle the "I don't want to brush" challenge. Importance of Play and Creativity

One risk of the technology-saturated world we live in is that children have fewer opportunities for unstructured play and creativity. Imaginative play is children’s work. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Teens

Teenagers struggle with homework assignments, test taking, and appropriate classroom behavior for many reasons. A certain percentage of teens will be diagnosed with a neurobiological disorder or a learning disability. When teens have ADHD they have to work hard to complete tasks and focus on their goals. Many students with ADHD also have other learning disabilities, which adds to classroom challenges.

Co-hosts Beth Samuelson, MA, founder of
Student Organizational Services, and Nurse Rona, and guests discuss how to help teens with learning and attention issues achieve success. Guests: Dr. Dale Jacknow, MD. Ryan Riggins, a high school student with ADHD.
